DUMBARTON and the Vale primary schools are in for double trouble as a troupe of twins clamber into the classroom for the first time tomorrow.

Four schools will be welcoming in the youngsters – who are among 12 sets of twins starting school across the council area.

Among the eight sets of twins who gathered in Dumbarton last week for a start of school photograph are Robbie and Ross Marshall, age five, who will attend Bonhill Primary – alongside five-year-olds Blair and Ethan Wilson, who were unable to take part in the photo.

While Lily and Yvie Paterson, aged five, will start Lennox Primary and St Peter’s Primary will welcome Eilidh and Saul Doherty, also aged five and Neve and Ruby Priestley will join St Patrick’s Primary School.

The 16 youngsters made new pals and gave their new uniforms a test run as they mucked about at Dumbarton Common.

While they gave the photographers on the day a challenge, it’s clear the energetic twosomes will give their primary 1 teachers hours of fun once their education gets under way.

Tracey Paterson, mum of Lennox-bound twins Lily and Yvie, said: “I’m a bit emotional about them starting school, but they’re both definitely ready for it.

“They’re clever wee girls and very sociable, so they will make new pals instantly and enjoy school.”

Karen Conaghan, the council’s convener of education, added: “Our first day at school is something most of us remember and parents will also never forget taking their youngsters to school for the very first time.

“I wish every child starting school this year all the very best for the future.”
