THOUSANDS of people braved the cold temperatures and icy rain but it was all worth it to see West Dunbartonshire Council's sensational annual fireworks display at Levengrove Park.

Saturday's event proved to be another hit, with great fireworks, along with children’s fun fair rides and hot food stalls.

The displays, delivered by Highlight Pyrotechnics, boasted a net explosive content of more than 220kg and featured a range of exciting fireworks, including comets, mines, spinners, hummers, whistles, strobes and dragon’s eggs.

And the skies above Dumbarton were truly lit up in what proved to be an eye-catching display for everyone who was there.

It was a similar story on Sunday too, when thousands packed into Dalmuir Park to see the council's equally impressive fireworks display.

Councillor Jim Finn, Chairman of West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust, which staged the events on behalf of the Council, said: “Our fireworks displays are among our most popular events and are attended by thousands of visitors every year.”

And a West Dunbartonshire Council spokesperson said: “Thousands of people turned up to the Council’s official fireworks events on Saturday and Sunday nights and were treated to spectacular and breathtaking displays.

“Levengrove and Dalmuir parks were packed with families who were looked after by our stewards and enjoyed the festivities in a safe environment.

“These events are the perfect way to enjoy Guy Fawkes Night and we thank the communities of West Dunbartonshire for supporting them.”
