Dancer's bid for TV stardom
A VALE teen is hoping residents from the area will back her bid to win a televised dancing competition.
On Saturday 17-year-old Remy McCumesty and her dance group Fear of the Unknown will perform live on Sky1's Got To Dance show after breezing through to the semi-final final stage of the competition.
The unique looking dance act wowed viewers with their colourful costumes and body paints during their first performance and received some fantastic feedback from the panel of judges which consists of Ashley Banjo, Kimberly Wyatt and Adam Garcia.
On Friday the sixth year pupil at the Vale of Leven Academy told the Reporter how excited she was after getting through the initial audition stage.
Remy said: "When we found out I couldn't describe it, it was amazing it was the best feeling in the world I just burst out into tears. It's something I have wanted for so long and to feel I'm getting it is amazing.
"I've been dancing since I was about two and it feels good to get somewhere with it. My big sister used to go dancing and I aspired to be like her.
"I love it. I train for five hours every night although it can be really hard. Robert our choreographer really pushes us but we always come out with a really good routine and then feel really great.
"Some people might get nervous and think they can hide behind the make-up but not me.
"We got amazing comments too, Ashley was blown away. He said It was the best make up he'd ever seen on any show and gave us a standing ovation. Kimberly said we were one of the best acts she had ever seen in her life.
"I was so surprised it's so different from what everyone else does we didn't know if they'd like it or not."
Fear of the Unknown will now perform in the live semi-final of Sky1's Got to Dance on Saturday February 5 and hope to get enough of the public's vote to see them through to the next stage.
