Police searching for 88-year-old Janet McKay who has been missing from her home in Knightswood for more than a week have found a body.

Officers said the body was found in the Clydebank area at around 10.30 this morning.

Police Scotland said in a statement: "Although formal identification has still to take place, police believe it to be Janet McKay and her family has been informed.

"A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."

A major search was launched for dementia patient Janet after she was reported missing by her family last Wednesday.
