A CHARITY received a welcome boost after Dumbarton and the Vale’s Provost decided to take a stroll in the park.
Provost Douglas McAllister’s proved his boots were made for walking when he opened and then took part in the Alzheimer Scotland Memory Walk.
The Provost then donated £100 to the charity following the successful event in Dalmuir Park, Clydebank. He took the decision to award the donation from the Provost’s Fund in recognition of the charity’s work with its 1400 West Dunbartonshire service users.
The charity provides support services, community activities, information and advice for those affected by Alzheimer’s.
The event saw 75 people complete a 1.6km route, and more than £700 has already been raised with more sponsor money still to come in.
Provost McAllister said: “I was delighted to be involved with the Memory Walk and it is encouraging to hear the event has been such a success.”
