THE delayed annual general meeting of Dumbarton East and Central Community Council is to be held on May 29 in St Augustine's Church Hall, Dumbarton with its June meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 11.

Silverton and Overtoun Community Council will be holding its June monthly meeting on Thursday, June 13.

Both community councils will then take a break until August.

Together, both community councils are organising a gala day for Saturday, June 1 and planning is in full swing.

Make sure you come along to the East End Swing Park where there will be a range of activities including Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, Strathleven Artizans, small fairground rides, an archery display, catering vans, a balloon clown amongst many others.

As part of this there will be a 2K fun run along the cycle track as well as sports for younger children and stalls from Bellsmyre Community Garden, the Woodland Trust and Dumbarton Library van and stall.

Any charities or community organisations that would like to take part should contact Rose or Sheila to register their interest. They must have public liability insurance.

Strictly no parking in the park car park all day.

On a separate note, the community councils have joined forces to fight against Posties Park as the preferred option for the new Our Lady and St Patrick's High School.

Rose attended the education services meeting on Wednesday when it was agreed by the committee to initiate investigations into three other potential sites for the new school.

These were: the joint hospital, Knowetop Farm, and Cunninghame Graham Memorial Park, Cardross Road.

All of these have problems.

The community councils now plan to set up a Facebook campaign.
