Reporter readers can only assume that the confusion which reigns in Jackie Baillie's mind at present is down to her indecision as to whether she throws her hat in the ring to be Labour's candidate for the forthcoming Westminster election in West Dunbartonshire.
She suggests that the SNP has scored "a massive own goal" in respect of her failure to support the Scottish Government's boiler scrappage scheme (Reporter 16/2/10).
We, in the SNP, are happy to acknowledge the UK Government's boiler scrappage scheme in England as, unlike Labour, we accept that other parties can have good ideas.
Indeed, the scheme introduced in Scotland by the SNP Government recognises this now that additional funding has been made available.
Since Jackie supports the UK Labour Government, why did she not support its policy being adopted in Scotland by the SNP Government? It is time for Jackie Baillie to spell out what services and proposals preserved and enhanced by the Scottish Government she would cut given that it is Westminster and not Holyrood which determines the Scottish budget.
At least John McFall MP has acknowledged that significant cuts in public expenditure are unavoidable.
Far from the SNP scoring an own goal, Jackie has kicked her own party's ball out the park.
Graeme McCormick, SNP Westminster candidate for West Dunbartonshire
