WE are pupils from St Mary's Primary school and we are writing to tell your readers about Earth Hour.

Our school is a very eco school and we always try to reduce, reuse and recycle.

We have already got our first Green Flag and are aiming to get our second.

Our school is a very friendly school and we care about others, that is why we are participating in Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is on Saturday March 27 and starts at 8.30pm. The aim is that people switch off their lights for 60 minutes.

It started in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 and is organised by the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF).

In 2009, millions of people signed-up and in 2010 the WWF is aiming to get one billion people to participate.

Our school participated last year and noticed that many people in West Dunbartonshire had signed-up.

Urgent global action is needed if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and safeguard our world.

Climate change affects everything and therefore everyone should sign-up for Earth Hour because icebergs are melting and forests are being cut down.

Humans are also hugely affected because of climate change.

Our class is doing many thing to promote Earth Hour. Can you please put something in your newspaper about Earth Hour to let people know how important it is.
