I HAVE recently retired to the Dumbarton area and have been delighted to discover your excellent newspaper and website.
In particular, I have had great enjoyment in reading the lively and impassioned contributions to your letters page.
The recent back and forth between James Cormack and William MacLeod has been most entertaining.
That was until last week, where Mr Cormack, I felt, overstepped the mark.
He made no attempt to address the issues that had been raised by his protagonist and chose instead to be nasty in a personal way.
Mr MacLeod has now asked Mr Cormack on two or three occasions to address the scenario of how an independent Scotland could possibly have coped with the worldwide economic catastrophe, and collapse of the Scottish-based banks.
I think your readers will agree that his silence on this issue speaks volumes.
Perhaps his nastiness does too.
I was brought up to believe that if one does not have anything nice to say that one should not say anything at all. Perhaps Mr Cormack should muster some dignity and decorum before he decides to write again.
