THE mis-speaking of Provost Denis Agnew continues.
Firstly he proves that he cannot count by claiming he attended more meetings of the National Park Board than he actually did.
Next he proves he cannot read by claiming he misread a Wednesday for a Monday.
He then proves that he has difficulty telling the time by maintaining that an engagement at the Glasgow Science Centre in the morning prevented him from attending the National Park Board in the afternoon.
To compound it all, he tells local journalists that it was simply due to clashes that prevented him from attending the National Park Board.
I would suggest that the only clash here is between fact and Provost Agnew’s fabrication.
If Provost Agnew genuinely has problems with counting, reading and telling the time can I suggest he contact the adult literacy classes which have an excellent record within this authority for helping those in need.
However, I would suggest that Provost Agnew’s motivation is based solely on greed and contempt for the citizens of West Dunbartonshire, for the National Park Board and for the council.
With apologies to Mark Knopfler; when this council is in dire straits, it is unforgivable for Councillor Agnew to demand money for nothing and his perks for free.
The SNP administration needs to put an end to Provost Agnew continually embarrassing West Dunbartonshire and pocketing allowances he has not earned.
It is time they pulled the chain on deceitful Denis and flushed him from the chamber.
Not to do so would send a strong signal to the citizens of West Dunbartonshire that through impending cuts they will feel the pain while Denis continues to gain.
Alan Sorrell, Balloch
