LOCH Lomond Rugby Club’s S1/S2 team hosted a Tier Four fixture at The Dillichip against Hillhead Jordanhill recently with the Bonhill side coming out on top.

Nearby neighbours Bishopton and Clydebank also came along to give their players some extra game time, and they played alongside the Lomond and Hillhead players.

A well drilled Lomond side supported each other well in attack and showed individual class in a very entertaining game.

The match was played in the right spirit with the referee and coaches working together to develop the skills of all the players. Hillhead dominated the ruck, with some excellent counter rucking which resulted in Lomond turning over possession a number of times.

Lomond showed more speed and composure in open play, and found gaps in Hillhead’s defence to score some excellent tries.

Tripney, playing centre, was very effective and aggressive in attack. Will was solid in the scrums and worked hard in defence. Josh provided last minute cover tackles in his role as full back.

Patrick showed great athleticism in the breaks, running considerable distances to score. Man of the match was Mini Munn who covered every blade of grass, closing down every attack, stealing balls in ruck and tackle situations and scored some great tries to the pleasure of all spectators.

The S1/2 team’s training is at Vale of Leven Academy, on Wednesdays from 6-7pm, on the back hockey pitch.
