A NEW physical activities programme is coming to West Dunbartonshire next month.

The programme is aimed at adults in the area with physical and learning disabilities and will run every week at three separate locations until 2017.

Active Dunbartonshire co-ordinator with TAG (The Advisory Group) Neil Connelly said: “The Advisory Group is a charity that was set up to help people with physical and learning disabilities have a larger say in what is going on in their community.

“We as a charity have three main aims – to promote the gifts and talents of people with learning disabilities, to break down the barriers of discrimination and to help make a more inclusive Scotland.

“It is my job to help create and sustain opportunities for people with disabilities in their community, focusing mostly on activities that promote sport, health and wellbeing.”

The physical activities programme starting in May is the result of a successful joint bid from The Advisory Group (TAG) and West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust to the Awards for All scheme with the National Lottery.

Free activities include football, walking, badminton, yoga and dance.

The host venues include Bonhill Community Centre (Thursdays from May 5 12.30pm to 1.30pm), Brucehill Community Centre (Thursdays from May 5 from 2pm to 3pm), Hub Community Centre (Saturdays from May 14 from 12.30pm to 1.30pm).
