LOCH Lomond Rugby Club romped to their sixth win in a row, scoring six tries in the process, as they blew away Lanark in blustery conditions at the Dillichip last Saturday.

The conditions limited any hopes of expansive running rugby, which probably worked in the Bonhill men’s favour.

Another disciplined display, exploiting the power of the pack was brilliantly orchestrated by scrum half and captain Ewan Todd.

Lomond scored from their first attack with strong, direct running from Neil, Nicholson and Scott Newport gaining the hard yards before Johnny Urquhart smashed through the home defence to score under the posts.

Lanark hit back after Lomond failed to defend an opportunistic up and under which the hosts' number eight and ran in.

Ryan Campbell, who kicked brilliantly all day, slotted a penalty to put Lomond back in the lead shortly after and Lomond never looked back from here.

Drew McGinty got on the back of a driving maul to score and Scott Newport drove home shortly after to put Lomond up 22-7 at the break.

The second half was a case of more of the same as Lomond dominated possession and always looked in control of their own destiny.

Set piece execution was excellent with McFarlane ruling the line out and the powerful front row of Dennison, Urquhart and Norrie driving the home scrum off their own ball on a couple of occasions.

Lomond secured their fourth try, and a bonus point, off the back of an abrasive charge down the field which resulted in a penalty in front of the posts.

Some quick thinking from Campbell led to a tap and go with the stand-off having enough power to touch down.

Lanark hit back with a try in the corner after some strong running from their impressive outside centre, who was otherwise brilliantly contained by Matt and Bailey, both of whom had superb games in the Lomond midfield.

Normal service was resumed shortly thereafter as Dennison fought off substitute Carruthers for the fifth try after the pack drove a five-metre scrum over the Lanark line.

Mathieson rounded things off with a sniping try from the base of a ruck on the Lanark line, before before the hosts scored a final consolation try.
