DUMBARTON assistant manager Stevie Farrell has revealed he expects defenders Darren Barr and Gregor Buchanan to sign deals to remain at the Sons in the coming days.

It has been a busy week for Farrell who has overseen five signings with manager Stevie Aitken on holiday.

Winger Andy Stirling and defender Craig Pettigrew arrived from Stranraer while Frazer Wright, Grant Gallagher and Garry Fleming extended their stays at the club by signing one year deals.

Speaking on Thursday night, Farrell said he expected Buchanan and Sons captain Barr to join them at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium in what would be a boost for the Sons with both players rumoured to have attracted interest from full-time clubs.

The assistant boss is also hopeful of confirming several new signings as Dumbarton await the decisions of several players they have made offers to.

He said: "We've made offers to four or five players who were at other clubs last season, it's just waiting on the confirmation of those. Gregor Buchanan and Darren Barr will hopefully sign over the weekend.

"Darren Barr is on his A licence up at St Andrews just now and doesn't finish that until early next week.

"Gregor is away on annual leave so we've not been able to catch up with him. So I don't see there being an issue with those two guys, they'll come on board at the weekend or the early part of next week.

"Both players indicated early that they really enjoyed it at Dumbarton last season."
