Lomond Table Tennis Club are on the lookout for new players.

The club is based in St Martin’s Primary School, Renton and has roots going back to the 1960s when there was a thriving league in West Dunbartonshire.

Over the decades teams and players dwindled. Then in 2012 several players decided to join together to enter two teams in the larger West of Scotland Table Tennis League, which has been going since 1947.

The A team soon gained promotion to Division 2 and last season both teams reached the finals of their divisional cups.

The club is looking to strengthen their squad for the forthcoming season and recently agreed a sponsorship deal with civil engineering contractor Landscapes and Contracts Ltd, who are providing smart new home and away kits incorporating the new club logo.

L&C are currently on site delivering environmental improvements at Dennystown Forge in Dumbarton and have a long history of working locally.

They were founded in 2001 and started trading from rented premises at Strathleven House, Vale of Leven Industrial Estate.

L&C’s managing director Brian MacAlister attended a recent training session and presented a cheque for kit sponsorship.

He said: “We are delighted to provide sponsorship for a long-established local sports club and hope that the funds will help the club step up to the next level.” Interested players should contact Jim Dickson on 07969 128669 or Joy Daniels on 07833 964015 for more information.
