THE P4/5 team from Loch Lomond took part in a festival at Scotstoun Stadium before Glasgow Warriors took on Ulster on Friday, September 23.

The players arrived full of excitement, getting ready to play at the home of the Warriors.

The team were drawn in a tough pool against GHA, Lenzie and Kilmarnock.

The Lomond boys played with great spirit and determination, tackling well and pinning the opposition back on their own line for large periods of the games.

They were up against teams who were a bit more streetwise at the breakdowns and balls were stolen at the rucks allowing the other teams to breakaway and score.

However, the Lomond players chased every ball and never gave up until the final whistle.

A club’s spokesperson said: “All the parents, coaches and travelling supporters were extremely proud of the way this young team played and they have such great potential for the future.”

The team were then part of the guard of honour as the players ran onto the pitch for the main game.

With a sell-out crowd at Scotstoun, the noise and atmosphere was electric and the players made the most of every moment. They then settled down to watch the game and cheered on the Warriors.

At the end of the night, they got the chance to meet some of the players after the game. It was an honour for the Lomond players to be part of the night and the only disappointment of the night was Ulster edging Glasgow to take the four points.

The U15 game the following day was cancelled as Paisley’s pitch was waterlogged. They next face Cartha away on Sunday, October 9.

Mini training on Monday from 6-7pm and S1-4 training on Wednesdays from 7-8.30pm are now at Argyll Park on the new 4G pitch. Everyone is welcome to come along and try rugby.
