Active Schools worked in partnership with Dumbarton Golf Club to run a Primary 5 Golf Competition which took place last Wednesday.

This event acted as the very first West Dunbartonshire School Games (WDSG) event of 2016-17 with all participating primary schools gaining WDSG points.

This is the second year of the WDSG, which involves all West Dunbartonshire primary schools being split into small, medium and large school leagues (dependent on school roll) and gaining points by attending festivals or competitions run by Active Schools and Sports Development.

The event was attended by six teams – Aitkenbar, Braehead, Knoxland, St. Michael’s, St. Patrick’s and St. Peter’s Primary Schools who all brought a team of two boys and two girls.

The scores were very close but in the end St. Michael’s won this event, with Knoxland in second.

Both schools progress to the WD Golf Final at Dalmuir Golf Club on Thursday where they will compete against the top two schools from the Clydebank and Vale of Leven area festivals in a bid to be crowned WD Golf champions.
