Vale of Leven Cricket Club beat BBC Cricket Club at Millburn Park last month in their 20/20 match.

Nearly half of the Vale’s Saturday league games have been cancelled this season due to rain.

However, the mid-week league has done a little better, and hosted BBC on one of hottest days of the year.

The visitors batted first in the 20/20 match, posting a target of 129 for 8.

The pick of the bunch from the Vale bowlers was Muhammed Shafiq (5 for 22), which included a hat-trick. A good all round fielding display was achieved with Chanjit Singh and Martin Corrigan taking the best of the catches.

In reply, the Vale scored 130/7 with a few balls to spare with man of the match Muhammed Shafiq hitting a huge total of 78 not out.

The Vale is the only cricket club in West Dunbartonshire and is looking to recruit new players, especially from the Clydebank, Dumbarton and Vale of Leven areas. The Vale is always looking for anyone who may wish to take the game up or are looking for a club to play for.
