Dumbarton have been drawn at home to Welsh Premier League side Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Second Round of the Irn-Bru Cup, writes Jack Crawford.
The draw, conducted at the Falkirk Wheel by former Ireland international goalkeeper Pat Bonner and Actor Sanjeev Kohli, paired Sons with the first-time entrants into the competition.
The tie due to be played on the weekend of eptember 2/3.
From the beginning of last season, the top two placed clubs in the Welsh Premier League and Northern Ireland Premier League were invited to the competition, with teams from the League of the Republic of Ireland invited from this season.
Four teams each from the Highland and Lowland leagues are also now involved in the competition.
Nomads qualified for entry due to their second placed finish in the Welsh Premier League last season with Dumbarton beating Rangers Colts 2-1 on Wednesday night to progress.
The side are managed by Scotsman Andy Morrison, former captain of English Premier League team Manchester City.
The tie will be the first ever meeting between the Sons and Nomads.
