Loch Lomond RFC lost out in their first home league game against Strathaven, being edged out 29-20.

The game started and Lomond couldn’t get in rhythm with the ball being knocked on and kicks not finding touch.

They were also giving penalties away and Strathaven slotted a few over the posts during the game.

The visitors also managed to score a try from a sustained piece of Lomond pressure.

The impressive Nicholson charged down a kick, deep inside the Strathaven half, only for a wicked bounce landed the ball in centres hand, who passed to the opposition winger to score.

Strathaven added to their try total shortly after, running in another score.

Bailey was able to get the home side on the scoresheet with a penalty.

It was a half to forget with too many mistakes for the Bonhill side.

The set piece was much improved this week from the home side. and led to their first try.

From a lineout, Lomond took possession and set up a number of rucks, seeing Scott Newport crash over.

In the middle of the park the backs were making ground and Paul Wilson was looking sharp in both attack and defence.

Nicholson benefited from this finishing off a series of drives by running from deep and through several tacklers to score another try.

Lomond were on the front foot and another try would see them win.

A moment of ill discipline by Dennison saw the veteran receive a yellow card and Lomond reduced to 14 men for the remainder of the game.

The club would like to thank match sponsors Bruno’s Barbers and Ian McGregor this week and also Sloan’s the Butcher for the after match food.
