Dumbarton welterweight boxer Martin Harkin’s scheduled fight with O’Shane Clarke was called off at the last minute after his opponent suffered a family bereavement the day before the bout.

The 25-year-old instead had an exhibition match with super-lightweight Ahmed Ibrahim on Thursday night at St Andrew’s Sport Club’s event so punters were not left empty-handed.

Harkin was looking to extend his unbeaten start life as a professional boxer, racking up five wins, including one knock out.

But the Dumbarton fighter will be looking to get back in the ring as soon as he can, as he targets a title fight.

Also in action at Thursday night event was Kelty’s Connor Law, who triumphed over Yorkshireman Alastair Warren with a points victory.

And in the main event of the night, Knightswood’s Kash Farooq won the Scottish bantamweight title after beating Shotts fighter Scott Allan.

His corner threw in the towel in the eighth round after he sustained heavy cuts to his cheek and eye.
