Dumbarton United 2005s continued their perfect start in the Paisley and Johnstone District League as they eased to a comfortable 4-1 win against Morton Community.

The Dumbarton youngsters, who sit top of the table with maximum points after their opening seven matches, only had 12 players to choose from due to holidays as they welcomed Morton to East End Park on Saturday morning for the 9.30am kick-off on a wet morning.

But they got off to a flier with Chris McGroggan opening the scoring after just five minutes.

The visitors quickly levelled after a long ball fell kindly to their striker in the area, but Dumbarton continued to apply pressure and created a number of opportunities before restoring their lead as Kristian Zetocha found the bottom corner.

It was end-to-end stuff before United grabbed their third goal of the game after the Morton keeper picked up a pass-back to hand the hosts an indirect free-kick in the box.

Reece Beaton picked out McGroggan who had the simple task of heading into the empty net for his second of the morning.

Morton started the second-half well but Dumbarton looked more dangerous on the counter attack with Zetocha’s clever back heel finding Beaton with space on the wing. The midfielder powered into the Morton area and remained composed to bag the home side’s fourth of the day to finish it off.

Next up for United is Glenvale at home this weekend as they look to extend their unbeaten start.
