The Loch Lomond P6/7 team travelled to Scotstoun on Sunday to take part in the P7 festival of rugby organised by the Glasgow Warriors Community Team, in partnership with sponsors Kubenet.

As one of 16 sides taking part, this was Lomond’s first outing of 2019 as they blew away their winter cobwebs following a six week Christmas break.

Lomond got their day off to a winning start with a convincing 5-3 win against Strathaven before struggling to break down a tough West of Scotland side who ran out 4-2 winners.

Next up was Falkirk in a fairly even match with the Lomond youngsters eventually coming through 2-1 winners.

On to round two of matches and the Christmas break was taking its toll with energy levels dipping as they lost out 4-2 to Dumfries.

A local derby with Helensburgh was up next with the Burgh running over an injury-hampered Lomond side 5-2.

The last game of the day saw Lomond up against an unfamiliar team in Moffat who had played well all day and raced to a 2-0 lead.

Loch showed a real fighting spirit to fight back from two tries down before digging even deeper to run out 4-2 winners and finish the day on a high with every player giving it their all on a super day for rugby.

Lomond are heading back to Scotstoun next weekend as one of 10 teams selected to play in a festival of rugby sponsored by Land Rover with the P6/U11 side looking forward to another challenging day of rugby.
