Loch Lomond U14 team finally got a run out in 2019 when they travelled down to Ayrshire to play Cumnock in near perfect conditions.
Lomond won the toss and opted to kick off, the ball was kicked deep into the opposition’s half.
Opponents Cumnock gathered the ball and immediately took the game to Loch Lomond who reacted slowly allowing an early score.
It was evident the boys where rusty after the lengthy break, poor handling, silly errors and missing tackles allowed the opposition to run in some easy scores.
As the game progressed the Loch Lomond team started to play some decent rugby and scored some well worked tries.
The highlight of the game was Niven’s superb line break, only to be tackled metres from the line but his delayed offload allowed Declan to gather the ball and run in under the posts.
Despite the 16-38 loss there were positives the team can take from the game but there is plenty to work on at training before the next fixture against Helensburgh.
The team’s coaches thanked the families and friends that came to support.
