Dumbarton United 2005s clinched runners-up spot at West Park United’s Easter Tournament in Bishopbriggs at the weekend, coming through three tough matches and a play-off final in the searing heat.
The only team representing the Paisley and Johnstone District Youth Football League, the 2005s did well in the eight-team contest.
An impressive 5-1 opening win against the hosts was followed by a narrow loss against pre-tournament favourites Summerston before a draw with Celtic Boys Club.
A win, a draw and a narrow loss was enough for the 2005s to book their spot in the play-off final against Maryhill.

Maryhill looked to be cruising at 3-1 up but United fought back well in the second-half to force a penalty shootout, scoring all five of their spot-kicks with Adam Daly in fine form in goal, stopping an incredible three penalties as United finished the day runners-up.
Elsewhere, Clydebank and Dumbarton United U13 girls played host to Giffnock SC in the SWF Jane Ross League at the weekend.
The girls were focused from the off on Saturday, showing they were up for the challenge to go in 2-0 up at the break.
They continued to match Giffnock’s efforts in the second-half as Kyla Thomson completed her hat-trick to put the home side 3-0 up with Giffnock’s late effort proving to be nothing more than a consolation as it finished 3-1.
The CDU girls now travel to Dundee this weekend for a Scottish Cup clash.
Dumbarton United’s U12 girls enjoyed a big win in the sun as they eased past Port Glasgow on Saturday with a lovely sequence of passing setting it up for Gracie Williamson to open the scoring early on.
Port Glasgow fought back well to edge ahead after the break but the United girls worked tirelessly to get themselves back in it with two goals from Phoebe Park and another from Gracie ensuring a hard-fought win.

The 2006 boys weren’t in action at the weekend but they showed their charitable side as they handed in Easter Eggs to Blameless charity for less fortunate kids while the 2010 girls are currently on the look out for new players, asking anyone interested in joining to get in touch via amandamc17@hotmail.co.uk.
