Dumbarton United youngsters impressed at the weekend with a number of emphatic victories across all age groups.
First up, the 2005 boys welcomed Westerton to Argyle Park in a must-win encounter.
The visitors opened the scoring early on but Dumbarton rallied positively to level through Flynn Kerr before seizing the initiative with Ryan Murray and Christopher McGroggan opening up a 3-1 lead.
Westerton hit back twice to level but United restored their lead with another cool finish from Murray with Adam Gow and Reece Beaton rounding it off for a 6-3 win as Dumbarton returned to the top of the table with one game to go against Cambuslang this weekend.
Elsewhere, the 2004 boys finished off their league campaign with a fine 7-2 win over Thistle Weir to cement a well-deserved third place finish in their first season in the Glasgow and District League.
Dumbarton’s U15 girls recorded an impressive 6-1 victory over St Mirren in the SWF Leanne Crichton League on Saturday.
The girls showed great desire after falling one behind against the run of play early on, with a period of sustained pressure finished off by Megan Kochanowska to level.
A dominant second-half display saw Dumbarton hit the Saints for a further five goals to ensure new captain Millie Graham got off to a winning start.
The 2002 boys then battled well to see off a tough St Andrews BC side 3-2.
The youngsters fought back from 2-1 down to level 10 minutes from the end before a deflated St Andrews side lost their discipline as United grabbed an 88th minute winner.
