Loch Lomond RFC minis hosted their annual mini rugby festival on Sunday, June 9 with more than 400 players putting on a rugby spectacle at the Dillichip.
With teams from Allan Glen’s, Bishopton, Cumbernauld, Cumnock, Highland, Lenzie, West and Paisley joining the Loch youngsters, there was plenty of rugby for everyone to enjoy.
A great turnout from the youngest Lomond kids saw the P1-3s get the day off to a flier with the kids all performing excellently.
The Lomond P4s were able to field a full strength team for their home festival as they enjoyed five great games of rugby. The group have been improving in recent weeks and it all clicked for their final outing of the season with good running, passing and tackling on display in all of their matches.
The P5s arrived at the Dillichip full of enthusiasm but they got off to a slow start as they narrowly lost to Bishopton in their opening match. With much-improved tackling, Lomond turned it around in their remaining fixtures to come away with comfortable wins against Lenzie and Cumbernauld to end the season in style.
The opening two games for Loch Lomond’s P6 team proved to be tough but the hosts were not deterred as they rounded off the day with two fine draws against West and Highland A.
The P7s, meanwhile, linked up with Paisley for their last mini level festival before they move on to the full size pitch next season, winning three matches to round off a fantastic day of rugby.
