Kirktonhill Tennis Club celebrated the finals of the French Open last weekend with a fun-filled day of tournaments for its juniors stars.

After a number of tense knock-out rounds, it was youngsters Lewis Mackechnie and Daniel Baggley who booked their spots in the final of the Mini-Reds group.

Both players produced some fine tennis in a very evenly-matched contest before Lewis made the breakthrough to take the title.

In group two, Sophie Dempster and Olivia Darroch battled through the knock-out stages before putting on a display of tennis worthy of champions in the final with Sophie eventually seeing it out for the win.

With the summer season well underway now, the demand for coaching at the club amongst children and parents has been very encouraging for Kirktonhill with a number of extra sessions with coach Douglas Mackenchnie being set up.
