Dumbarton manager Stevie Farrell insists it’s only a matter of time until his side finds that finishing touch and return to winning ways.

Sons were held by Forfar Athletic on Saturday - despite leading twice - as their inconsistent run to 2024 continued.

Michael Ruth nodded his side in front but it was immediately cancelled out by Stuart Morrison, only for Marc Kelly to notch his first goal in a Dumbarton jersey when he met Aaron Healy’s delivery on 25 minutes.

That’s how the scoring would remain until the final quarter of an hour with Ryan Mohammed earning the visitors a point when he tapped in from close range.

The hosts had chances to win it, most inexplicably falling to Ruth who fired over the crossbar from a couple of yards out with almost the last kick of the game, but it remains just one win in 2024 for Dumbarton.

Faz remains positive despite recent results and believes the fine margins will eventually swing in his side's favour.

Speaking post-match, he said: “The players played well and we’ve put in two good performances over the last two weeks where we deserved a point last week and three points on Saturday.

“If they keep playing the way they are playing and creating the chances that we are then it will start falling for them.

“It’s the finest of lines for us at the moment but we know we aren’t far away.

“Nobody can turn around and say the team isn’t playing well and I was pleased with them again.

“Even though the boys feel they should have more points over the last two games they certainly aren’t despondent.

“I can’t fault us at the moment, we create so many chances and they will start falling for us. We are where we are and we’re right in amongst another promotion play-off hunt.”
