DUMBARTON Academy recovered form a 2-0 half-time deficit to secure a point at Glasgow Harp on Saturday.

Glasgow Harp are battling to avoid relegation and this was evident from the start of the game as they started very strongly.

The opening goal came when a long ball caught out Accies rearguard and landed at the advancing Charles McCole who lobbed Accies keeper Andrew McGillvray to finish nicely.

Accies had started slowly however they nearly equalised immediately. Tom McHard found himself advancing on Harp keeper Stephen Johnstone and went round the keeper — however Gordon McLune cleared the ball off the line.

Having scored earlier, McCole was clearly in the mood. He saw a 30 yard free kick narrowly go over bar and another effort hit the side netting.

Harp went 2-0 up on 35 minutes. A corner from McLune was met by the head of the unchallenged Christopher Chalmers — the ball finding the net at an unguarded post.

Accies sought to respond immediately, some good play between Graeme Ramage and Alan Nicholson saw the ball crossed along the Harp six yard line — once again there were no takers for Accies.

Having played with the strong wind against them in the first half, Accies were keen to get back into the game as early as possible.

This was rewarded on 52 minutes when Harp needlessly conceded a penalty. Tom McHard stepped up to finish well despite a valiant effort by McCole.

A couple of minutes later a free kick from Graeme Ramage had McCole beaten but flashed wide.

Harp then steadied themselves and created a couple of opportunities — both failing to trouble McGillvray.

Accies drew level with seven minutes left when a long ball from defence was superbly controlled by Graeme Ramage — who then ran into the Harp box and crossed along the six yard box. Harp'’s Kevin McGuire attempted to block — but only succeeded in putting the ball in his own net.
