Priority is to get our spirits up
FOCUS: Boss Chapman says his players need a lift
THE Dumbarton squad reported for pre-season training at the weekend as they began preparations for life in the Scottish Second Divison.
It was businness as usual at Strathclyde Homes Stadium as the kick-off to the new league campaign rests on the horizon with Dumbarton boss Jim Chapman eager to resume training.
While others may be tempted to sit back and simply anticipate the start of the new league season, gaffer Chapman won"t be looking to far ahead just yet.
He said: 'If I"m honest, I"ve not really paid too much attention to the opening fixtures so far.
'Our priority is to get the players in, work with them again and get their spirits back up.
'We"ll train as much as we can and just take each game one at a time.
'We play nine teams on four different occasions and we"ll know them well by the second quarter.
'The key is to get off to the best start.'
Some of the players including Andy Geggan, and Stevie Murray even took part in an early training session at Levengrove park last Saturday with Chapman looking on.
He said: 'The early training session was a suggestion from some of the boys.
'They just wanted to get in and kick the ball around.
'Everyone is looking forward to getting back to work.'
