'We've shot ourselves in the foot' confesses Dumbarton manager
JIM Chapman has issued a call to his players for a quick shift in their mentality ahead of Saturday's game against Stenhousemuir.
The Dumbarton manager has watched his side ship 12 goals in their four league games so far and is now looking for his players to toughen up before their position at the bottom of league becomes irrecoverable.
He said: "We need to add a bit of steel to the players - we want them to be mentally tough.
"We've set high standards at the club, I don't want anyone to accept mediocrity and to be annoyed when things don't work for you."
Dumbarton were handed a weekend off due to the international break but Chapman knows there can be no respite for his side as they look to battle their way out of the Second Division basement.
But while the Sons will be looking to record their first victory on Saturday, Stenhousemuir will be hoping to avoid their first defeat of the season.
