DUMBARTON midfielder Ross Clark believes the Sons can cause a cup shock when they take on Morton at Cappielow on Saturday.
Clark revealed the Sons players are aware of the quality the first division outfit posses but are confident they can progress to the next round of the Scottish Cup.
The midfielder said: "It is always special at this time of year when the third round of the Scottish Cup comes along.
"It is a hard draw for us but we need to feel we can go there and win.
"It will be a completely different game from when we played them at the start of the season.
"We have been on a good run of results recently and James Grady seems to have rejuvenated Morton since he took over from Davie Irons.
"It is amazing what a new manager can do to a team's confidence and they have been on a good run recently so it will certainly be a good match.
"But we can go there confident of getting a result.
"We know it will be a difficult match but they are only a division above us and we are capable of getting a win.
"I have enjoyed much success in the Scottish Cup in my career but we hope to get the later rounds.
"And of course the possibility of getting a Premier League club in the next round is an extra incentive for us."
James Grady and Allan McManus took over the reins on a permanent basis at the start of the month and have managed to steer Morton away from the relegation zone.
And with Dumbarton's match against Peterhead being called off due to a waterlogged pitch at Strathclyde Homes stadium, that gave boss Jim Chapman a chance to watch the Ton in action.
They showed their strength of character on Saturday as they battled back from two goals down against Airdrie to win 4-2 at the weekend.
Chapman was impressed by Morton's strengths but is confident his men can get a result.
He said: "It gives us a wee break from the league and it will take on a different meaning for the players.
"We were disappointed the match with Peterhead was called off so our preparations have been different for the match.
"At this stage of the competition it is probably one of the hardest draws we could have had.
"I went to see them against Airdrie on Saturday and they are a good side and are very experienced and they showed good character after coming back from two goals down.
"We know it will be a difficult match but our players are capable of winning.
"We have experienced players that have played at that level.
"You hear about cup shocks all the time but hopefully we can cause one of our own on Saturday."
Dumbarton's Active Nation Scottish Cup tie against Morton at Cappielow kicks-off at 3pm on Saturday.
Dumbarton midfielder Adam Strachan has joined Albion Rovers on an emergency one month loan.
The player, who joined the club in the summer, has made few appearances for the Sons this season and will be looking to gain match practice with the Third Division promotion chasers.
Strachan started his career at Partick Thistle where he made 71 appearances and scored five goals before moving on to Ross County last season where he played 22 times.
