Hamill delighted after top stopper signs on the dotted line
VALE manager Hugh Hamill reckons he has the two best keepers in the Central District First Division after he snapped up former Clydebank stopper Robert Tiropoulos.
The Alexandria-born keeper, who left the Bankies last month, will be in direct competition with on-form Millburn Park number one Matthew Carr and the former East Stirling keeper will bolster the Vale in the goalkeeping position.
Hamill is delighted to have Tiropoulos on board and said: "Matthew Carr is a good keeper and I know it is difficult to keep hold of two good keepers.
"But Robert is a terrific goalkeeper and I now think we have two of the best keepers in the division.
"I know both can't play every week but it will be good for competition.
"I had Robert when he was a youngster before he went on to East Stirling.
"I would have liked to have signed him but he went to Beith because he wanted to play at the highest level possible."
Weather permitting, Vale of Leven's match against Glasgow Perthshire kicks off at 2pm at Millburn Park on Saturday.
The Possil side are sitting four places below the Vale and will be looking to get their season back on track.
