Scotland call-up for Steven
BALLOCH teenager Steven Forbes will follow in the footsteps of Scotland legends Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Craig Brown and George Burley after receiving his call-up to represent Scotland under-18s in the Centenary Shield.
Forbes, 17, who plays in midfield for Stirling Albion, joined up with the Lloyds TSB Scotland under-18 Schoolboys' squad over Christmas for training at Toryglen Regional Football Centre in Glasgow.
Scotland will start their campaign at home to Northern Ireland in February, before welcoming Wales to Forfar Athletic's Station Park in mid-March.
The Scots then face two away trips, with the Republic of Ireland first up, before facing England at Newcastle's St James' Park, a game that will be shown live on Sky Sports.
Although experiencing an indifferent Christmas following a burglary at his house - an impressive performance in a trial game against Queen's Park and subsequent international call-up rescued his holiday.
He said: "I actually didn't have a great Christmas because our house was broken into on Christmas Eve but the one good thing to happen over the Christmas period was getting into the Scotland squad.
"It's an incredible feeling to represent your country whether at a World Cup or in a schoolboys' International."
