Each of the players in the league voted on their top team and Paul McGinn was named as the league’s top right back.
The former St Mirren man has been a consistent performer since joining on a permanent deal from the Buddies in the summer.
After being named in the team, McGinn said: “I am really proud to have been voted into the team, especially when it is voted by opposing players.” Sons boss Ian Murray was delighted to see McGinn given the recognition although he felt some other members of his squad were unlucky not to make the team: “McGinn has had a great season and he is probably the best right back in the league.
“We will try to hold onto him for next season but we will just have to wait and see.
“Paul getting in the team was well deserved although I was surprised there wasn’t a few more from our squad — I thought Mitch Megginson and Chris Turner, as well as a couple of others might have sneaked in there.
“Although I am probably looking at it with Dumbarton tinted specs on I just felt one or two more did deserve to get in but it is normally the bigger teams whose players get in.” Championship team of the year (4-3-3): McGovern (Falkirk), McGinn (Dumbarton), Vaulks (Falkirk) Kingsley (Falkirk), Gordon (Hamilton), Millar (Falkirk), Andreu (Hamilton), Crawford (Hamilton), Loy (Falkirk) McDonald (Dundee) Hemmings (Cowdenbeath).
