Campbell left Morton after their relegation last season - a campaign in which Campbell was hampered by injury problems.

Despite his injuries, Campbell still netted five five times for the Cappielow side last season, while he netted 13 goals in the previous campaign.

With Chris Kane returning to St Johnstone, Ian Murray was keen to sign another couple of strikers and he was delighted to get his man.

Murray said: "Archie has pace and we need pace there is no doubt about that.

"I thought he did well in the friendly against Partick Thistle and he will do better once he knows the players more.

"We played him up front and then we played him wide left so he is versatile as well which will help us this season."

Campbell goes straight into Murray's squad for this weekend's cup tie at Stranraer.
