The additions of Rangers, Hearts and Hibs promise to make this season’s SPFL Championship one of the most exciting and competitive leagues in Britain and the busy transfer window has only served to increase interest and excitement.

Perhaps unsurpsisingly, Rangers have made the most high profile signings of the window — bringing back strikers Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd while also adding former Hearts centre half Marius Zaliukas to their defence following a stint at Leeds United.

Hearts themselves have made a number of astute additions such as former Dundee United pair Morgaro Gomis and Prince Buaben and Crystal Palace duo Neil Alexander and Osman Sow.

Scotland cap Neil Alexander provides a reliable pair of hands in goals while striker, Sow, has looked dangerous in pre season.

Hibs have been the quietest of the three new boys, however, the signings of Scott Allan and Farid El Alagui should prove to be two wise moves from new boss Alan Stubbs.

Elsewhere in the league Greig Spence has joined Alloa from Raith Rovers, Falkirk have snapped up goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald from Hearts and Cowdenbeath have lost their dangerous front pairing of Kane Hemmings and Greg Stewart — while Livingston and Raith Rovers have been busy, each adding eight new players.
