Lee McCulloch opened the scoring on Saturday with a near post volley from a Lewis MacLeod corner — the fourth goal that Dumbarton have already conceded from a set piece this season.
Despite admitting his team were second best throughout the game, Murray bemoaned the defending for the opening goal, he said: “Overall we have no complaints with the scoreline, that is for sure.
“I was disappointed with the goals we lost, especially the first one as it was a set play which put us on the back foot.
“At a set play you have got to pick your man up and defend for 10 seconds but if people don’t defend properly and we let in goals like that then we are going to lose a lot of goals.” While he was disappointed with the nature of the opening goal, Murray was impressed with the team from Ibrox and the tempo they played at.
The Sons boss added: “It’s a strange game to come to Ibrox and play Rangers in the Championship because everybody likes to stick the boot into Rangers at times but I said to my players at half time that people say Rangers are not a good team but then you see how quickly and sharply they move the ball compared to other teams in this league and you see how good they really are.”
