Duggan has signed for Dumbarton on loan until the end of the season from Premiership side Partick Thistle and made his Sons debut on Saturday, coming off the bench in the 3-0 defeat away to Hibs.

Murray has been on the search for strikers since Chris Kane and Colin Nish departed the club in January.

The Sons boss has had his eye on Duggan for a while and believes the 21-year-old will give Dumbarton an important option up front.

He said: “He’s got a good presence about him we’ve watched him twice this season and you obviously ask around, he did well at Queen’s Park when he was there.

“He gives us an option, he has good strength and he looks to make intelligent runs between centre backs and between full backs and centre backs, he can definitely finish as well.

“He will certainly hold the ball up but equally he isn’t afraid to run in behind defenders. Without being a target man as such he will go and take a knock or two “This is a good chance for him, it was one we had been watching for a few weeks with a view of getting him. We just had to make sure it was right for both club and for Chris.

“We’re glad to get it over the line, we probably would’ve got it done last week if we could’ve but it wasn’t to be but it is great to get him in.” The move looks likely to be Murray’s last signing of the season. The deal was the club’s last permitted loan meaning that they can only sign free transfers but Murray doesn’t think any further deals are likely.

He said: “That’s our loans all used up so it would only be free agents we could bring in but I can’t see any coming in to be honest.

“We are delighted with the quality we’ve been able to add.”
