My wife went into labour on Saturday morning. I did show up in the labour suite with my Dumbarton tracksuit on in the hope the baby would be born in time for me to get to Easter Road for the kick off but it wasn’t to be.

I’d like to take this chance to thank everyone connected with Dumbarton FC for the kind gifts and messages that I have received.

Thankfully I regained my place on Saturday and it was pleasing to get a clean sheet and a point against a side that we have struggled against in recent years. The conditions were tough to play in but what pleased me most was seeing the whole team working so hard and putting everything into the game.

We are going to have to fight for every point and with only 10 games to go the one we gained on Saturday could prove crucial in our bid to stay up.

Next week’s match against Alloa is huge but we will go into the game in good spirits and our record against them has been remarkable and one that we won’t be giving up easily. A special mention to Chris Turner for his return to the starting 11 on Saturday, I thought he played really well considering he has had a tough season that has been heavily disrupted with injury.

If he can stay fit for the last 10 games he will be like a new signing for us and I’m sure he will want to play a big part in keeping us up.

Finally I’d just like to wish Stephen Grindlay all the best for his testimonial dinner next Saturday evening. I hope there will be plenty of Sons fans in attendance and we can all show appreciation for the big man’s dedication and efforts for Dumbarton over the years.
