Duggan has impressed Murray since signing for Dumbarton on-loan from Partick Thistle. Without scoring in his three appearances he has caused defences problems — particularly in the home ties with Alloa and Queen of the South.

With his contract at Thistle finishing in the summer, Duggan will be hoping to impress at Sons for the rest of the campaign in a bid to impress Thistle as well as any other possible suitors.

However Murray would love to see Duggan with Sons beyond his loan spell and hopes the striker’s time at the club can enter Sons into the fight for his signature.

He told SportScene: “I think Chris will want to stay at Thistle if he can, if he is not and he is available I would like to think we could have a run at him.

“The performances he has given so far have been excellent, he looked very lively against Queen’s and I thought he gave Alloa a hard time.

“He needs to keep that up, coming towards the end of the season teams will be on the lookout for strikers. We hope to give him a platform to perform as he is capable of.”
