VALE of Leven are still searching for their first win of the league season following defeat to Johnstone Burgh on Saturday.
John McStay’s first half effort proved to be the decider as the Keanie Park side clocked their opening win following defeat to Glasgow Perthshire the week before.
A second half red card for Burgh’s Gareth Brown provided Hugh Hamill’s side with the breakthrough they were looking for but despite a late rally from the Vale frontline they could not breakdown keeper Paddy Doherty who was in inspired form as Colin Smith and Davie Brolly’s side held on.
Defeat sees Vale rooted to the bottom of the table on goal difference after only two games and they will be once again aiming to get their season on track this Saturday when they travel to Victoria Park to take on Newmains United.
