Dumbarton Academy FP begin their defence of the Douglas Smith League Cup at home to Eaglesham on Saturday, August 13.
Accies produced a stunning comeback against Larkhall Thistle, winning the final 2-1 despite conceding after just five minutes.
Goals from Alan Filshie and Andrew McDonald claimed the victory for Accies, the third time they’ve lifted the cup after winning it twice in a row in 2008 and 2009.
Dumbarton Academy will also play Symington, Dalziel and Viewfield during the league section stage of the competition.
Accies also discovered their opponents in The William Turner Challenge Cup will be Gartcosh, having being given a bye in the first round.
Despite the tricky tie and having never won this trophy, the Caledonian Premier League side’s new management duo of Michael Dickie and Jerry Packham are keen to go for glory in the league trophy.
And they return to pre-season training today with several friendlies lined up before their competitive fixtures begin.
Their first friendly is away to Broomhill on Saturday, July 23, then away to Greenock HS on Saturday, July 30 and then finally they play Bannockburn at home on Saturday, August 6.
Accies’ first game in the Caledonian Premier League Division sees them face a trip away to Bearsden, which will either be on August 16 or 17.
And they will be keen to replicate last season’s away win against the side to get their league season off to a positive start.
They then have their first home league game of the season when they take on Giffnock on Saturday, August 27.
Accies wish all local teams, youth, amateur, junior and senior alike every success during the season ahead.
