Dumbarton Academy FP’s preparations for the 2016-17 season started last week with spre-season training on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Accies played Broomhill on Saturday in their first friendly of the year, winning 3-0 away at the newly-created side, who will play in the Foster’s Central Scottish Amateur Football League.
Accies’ Douglas Smith League Cup defence begins at home to Eaglesham on Saturday, August 13.
And their first Caledonian League Premier Division fixture will be away to Bearsden between August 22-24.
The final date is still be be confirmed.
Dumbarton Academy FP’s new manager Michael Dickie said: “The players’ attitude during our sessions thus far has been first class.
“The numbers in attendance have been good, and the effort they have put into the training drills has been excellent.”
Accies were also delighted to announce the signings of two new exciting additions to their squad.
Ian Davie is a product from the Accies’ Under-21 side from a few years back.
He progressed to the Amateur side and then moved to Vale of Leven Amateurs and later to Rhu.
He’s now back at Accies and keen to make his mark.
Accies’ other new signing is James Crowhurst.
Midfielder Crowhurst has previously played for Kilpatrick Juveniles, Beith, Renfrew, Yoker and has also had three spells with Vale of Leven.
Crowhurst, who can also play as a forward, will be help bolster Dumbarton FP’s attacking options for the forthcoming season.
