ON Saturday Lomond entertained what is fast becoming their bogey team in Cumbernauld.

Earlier in the season, Lomond lost 8-5 and this game proved to be a replay of it.

Lomond can take heart though as this time last season they were losing games by 30 to 40 points so these results show a great improvement.

The game started well for Lomond who dominated the first 20 minutes, but could not penetrate the away team"s defence.

Just when things were coming together for Lomond, they missed a couple of tackles in midfield and the Cumbernauld winger was in for a try.

To make matters worse, just a few minutes later Lomond saw possession turned over.

And from the resultant kick through, the winger scored again despite being at least 20 metres offside when he gathered the ball.

At half time, the Lomond coach got the boys" heads back in the game.

From then on, Cumbernauld were not in the match, but for all of Lomond"s possession, they could not get the win they deserved.

McAdam got the half going with a penalty then Sturgeon was put into touch as he placed the ball for a try.

Lomond supporters thought a try was never going to happen till Norrie popped up at a penalty to score under the posts.

McAdam converted to close the gap to two points and though Lomond battered on the Cumbernauld door, they could not find a way through.

This was a good performance from the team and with more bodies at training the results should come.

Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.45pm. All players are asked to make an effort.

Next up is the league leaders and local derby opponents Clydebank on Saturday.
