Chapman disappointed despite last-gasp equaliser in six-goal drama
A DRAMATIC late equaliser from Iain Chisholm secured Dumbarton's first point of the season against 10-man Clyde at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Saturday.
Chisholm netted the equaliser with four minutes remaining after Clyde had their goalkeeper Reidford dismissed just before half time.
Following a quiet opening, Clyde took the lead after 15 minutes when McLaughlgin's free-kick on the right was met by former Hearts defender Alan Lithgow.
Dumbarton responded immediately and crosses from Scott Chaplain and McLaughlin were deflected wide before Clyde doubled their advantage after 24 minutes.
But a moment of madness from Clyde keeper Reidford eight minutes before half time changed the pattern of the game.
Hunter tried to grab the ball after a corner had been awarded when Reidford aimed a headbutt at the Dumbarton striker and was red carded.
In first-half stoppage Dumbarton skipper Mick Dunlop reduced the deficit when he rose to head home Scott Chaplain's cross-come-shot.
Gaffer Jim Chapman made substitutions at half time in a bid to turn round the deficit, replacing McLaughlin and Martin McNiff with Carcary and Stevie Murray.
Dumbarton took the game to the visitors and dominated possession throughout the second period but almost fell further behind when McLaughlin had McGeown at full stretch with a 30-yard effort. After 63 minutes Dumbarton found the equaliser. Mackay fouled Murray on the right and from Geggan's free-kick, Hunter headed home.
Within 90 seconds Clyde had restored their lead after a screamer from 25 yards by McLaughlin.
With time running out, a Smith cross was allowed to run across the face of the box where Chisholm stooped to knock home the equaliser.
