St Patrick's FP 2 Harestane 2
DESPITE dominating large spells of the match, St Pats were left frustrated after being forced to settle for a draw on Saturday.
The Saints did most of the pressing with the Harestane's goalkeeper David McKegney pulling off a fine save as early as the second minute to deny Thomas Smith.
This emphasised the home side's determination to put their recent
disappointments behind them.
But against the run of play the visitors took the lead after a slack pass allowed McDonald to cut in from the left and squeeze the ball home at Kevin Connors' front post.
However, this setback seemed to make St Pats even more determined and Ruane brought his side level after 20 minutes from the penalty spot.
The next action was a super save from McKegney when he punched a John Deeley free-kick over the crossbar to safety, but in almost unbelievable circumstances the Kirkintilloch side got up the park for their second pop at goal when McDonald scored from an acute angle.
This action just before the break stunned the Saints but they rose to the challenge in the second half.
In the 67th minute Alan Galloway took a quick throw-in to Smith, who then left Currie to finish the move with a turn and twist around Mulvay before picking his spot with a low shot beyond the keeper's reach.
This would be the end of the scoring though good play from MacKinnon could have produced a winner.
St Pats: K Connor, A Galloway, J Deeley, K Brown, M King, D MacKinnon, M Currie, D Ruane, M MacLeod, T Smith, S Gardiner, Subs - D D'annunzio, A Monaghan, S Courtney.
