Loch Lomond u15s 17 Allan Glens u15s 25
LOCH Lomond produced a spirited performance against an unbeaten Allan Glens team, but unfortunately were not rewarded for their efforts on Sunday.
Lomond were expecting a hard game from a more experienced team and the game didn't disappoint.
Lomond were determined not to be humiliated in the same fashion as they were in the previous fixture between the two clubs.
From the kick-off it was obvious that Loch Lomond have been learning a lot this season and took the game straight to Glens, only for some desperate tackling by the visitors kept the home side out.
As can happen completely against the run of play, Lomond missed a tackle to allow Glens to score. The game swung backwards and forwards for a while then Lomond got turned over in a maul in there own 22 to allow Glens to score again.
Lomond did not let there heads go down and shortly after worked a short line out that Driver took on to storm over the line and score. Allan added the extra points.
With their heads up Lomond took the game to Glens and shortly after some good work by the forwards the ball was spun wide for Lamont to score in the corner.
Allan missed the conversion, but it was at this point that it was decided to buy new laces for his boots as they were travelling further than the ball. Half time came and Lomond went in 12-10 ahead.
At the start of the second half Lomond missed a couple of tackles to allow Glens to score again. But once again Lomond did not let there heads go down and with some bullocking runs by the forwards Slevin fell over the line from six inches to score.
The game was on a knife edge but in the last 10 minutes and due to injuries Lomond were reduced to 14 players who played out of their skins.
However, they could not hold out as fitness was a telling factor allowing Glens to score two controversial tries and let Glens win the game.
This was an excellent performance by the whole team and every player can hold their heads high. This was a Glens team who have not been beaten in this league and Lomond took them all the way.
The Glens coach said after the game it had been the hardest game they had been in, but was also the best game he had seen.
The club would like to thank match sponsor John Munn. Thanks also to The Corries B&B,CDN landscapes, Woodside mini mart and H Mckinnon Fencing for sponsoring the teams new strips.
Next week sees Lomond play host to Uddingston.
