CLARE Queen hopes to celebrate her fourth year as a professional golfer with a great performance in Dubai, writes Kristian Truelsen.
Queen, who represents the Carrick Golf Club, enters the Dubai Ladies Pro-Am and the Dubai Ladies Masters in December, almost four years to the week she turned pro on the Ladies Tour circuit.
Queen enjoyed a whirlwind first three years start to her career as a pro but admits she has suffered a drop in standards in 2009.
However, she hopes a good display in Dubai can give her game a resurgence for 2010.
Queen told Sport Scene: "It's is strange because the first three years went well but I have struggled this year.
"2009 has been a bit of a struggle but when you have been playing well you expect to go forward with your career.
"This year could prove to be an advantage for me as it could be the wake-up call I need. But I'm hoping to have a good end to the year in Dubai next month.
"When I look back over my whole career, and even as an amateur, some of the best things to happen to me have been negative things.
"That is because a bad experience can help you lift your game.
"I need to work on my shots from 100 yards. I feel that has made a difference to my score this year.
"This is my third year with the Carrick and they have been very supportive.
"It is a great bonus for me to be with them.
"Hopefully I can continue with them next year as well.
"It is a great course and a great club to represent."
